Homeowners live in the house upstairs. Homeowners had foam sprayed on the basement ceiling and drywall hung with resilient channel to reduce noise. The ceiling cavity was also densely packed with blow-in insulation. This creates a sound barrier from upstairs noise.
Candler Park / Lake Claire neighborhood is pretty eclectic and funky. Residents are mix of leftover hippies and young professionals. Little 5 Points area is 1 mile from house. You can walk to restaurants and markets in Candler Park that are less than 1 mile away. Candler Park is between downtown Atlanta and Decatur. Marta (Atlanta subway system / public transportation) stations are within walking distances (less than 1 mile).
There is a city park a couple hundred yards down the street from the house. It has a kids play area, soccer fields, and tennis courts.
Emory University and Hospital, Georgia Tech and Georgia State university are all only 3 -4 miles away.
